Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of tripping off to New York City to attend a conference for several days with a group called the Chapel Designers. Founded by Holly Chapple through social media as a gathering of floral designers, to educate, create a support network and raise the standards of floral design for weddings and events. 2013 sees the group into their 3rd year with attendees from across the United States, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Russia and of course, Australia! I have never felt so welcome, what a gorgeous group of ladies, and men - didn't forget you Daevid! Working in the Floral Design industry can at times be isolating, with most of us working at our individual studios. The opportunity to connect with like minded individuals and infuse the creative flow is something to be savoured. I will be posting more about this wonderful group and the individual designers, as they all have so much to give. Keep an eye out, as I have much more to share of my adventure to the Big Apple!
Today I want to show you some of my favourite bouquets. I have favoured the colourful ones, as they are a bit of fun! The best part of delivering a wedding is when I present the bride with her bouquet and I get to see the joy on her face. This just keeps me coming back for more!
The first bouquet was made for Deanna, using soft muted tones of pink, peach, grey, white and ivory. Double Tulips, Glasshouse Roses, David Austin Roses, Clethra, Queen Anne's Lace, Snowberries and a form of buxus gave this bouquet it's dreamy feel.
I made this bouquet for Ashleigh, just this Saturday! You have to excuse my photo, I am looking forward to seeing the gorgeous work of The Follans. An unstructured posy of Hyacinth, Succulent, Celosia, Freesia, Dahlia, Colombian Rose, Parrot Tulip, Double Tulips, Privet Berry and Phalaenopsis Orchid.
I seem to be having a love affair with coral this year. I have enjoyed working with bright colours, as often brides want classic white and green. Featuring Freesias, Snaps, Brunia, Celosia, Camellia, 'Country Life' Rose, 'Aphrodite' Rose and 'Juliet' Rose.
The bouquet I made for Hayley, it also got me to the Top Ten in Tesselaars Top Gun Wedding Floral Designers this year! Encased in the flowing ribbon is Freesia, Pieris, Vendela Rose, and Minigem Magnolia. A favourite!
Nadia! Always liked that name... I picked those little apples after falling in a ditch on the side of the road on my way to the apple tree in the middle of a field! Fun times! A lovely mix of Juliet Rose, Cool Water Rose, White Lisianthus, Vendela Rose, Snaps, Berzillea, White Hypericum, Juliet Rose, Billy Buttons, Green Button Chrysanthemum, Dusty Miller and Pin Oak. Enjoyed this one.
Another fun bouquet, comprising Ranunculus, Pieris, Stock, Tulips, Sims, Dried Lotus Pod, Dusty Miller and Poppy. Oh how I love Poppies, but that's another story!
Kelly's bouquet was lovely with Julia Rose, Antique Rose, Tea Tree, Dried Queen Anne's Lace, Lisianthus, Clethra, Scabiosa buds and Dusty Miller
Please grab a cuppa and have a look at the gorgeous work of fellow Chapel Designers!
